A history spanning more than 60 years made of tradition, quality, passion and excellence. But new challenges, in the latitudes of the Merlotta winery, are always on the agenda. Thus the Imola wine-growing reality, a point of reference in the production and oenological field of the territory on the border between Emilia and Romagna, felt a strong desire to further enhance the identity of its native vines. The idea behind the genesis of the new project is clear: three wines that already stand out for their exclusivity, prestige and elegance, enclosed in a single word: Tridènte. This is the name of the new Merlotta line, the pinnacle of the 2024 collection. But behind the extraordinary glance of the new bottles, the result of the Minzolini family’s obsessive attention to the quality of the product also from an aesthetic point of view, there is a path that is rooted in the desire to delve deeper into the origins of the winery itself.
A meticulous work of historical, artistic and mythological research starting from those sea dragons that have long characterized the Merlotta brand. It all starts from an ancient fresco present in the master room of the family’s private residence, a room still embellished today with paintings capable of fascinating experts and visitors. Art critics, in fact, trace the dragons and tridents to the marine processions linked to Neptune, divinity of the waters, in a revival in the agricultural sector necessary to invoke the prosperity of the vineyards.

Thus the Tridènte line, identified by its recognizable umbrella brand, is inextricably linked to the evolution of a mythological trend that has marked millennia of myths and legends. And the choice to combine the Merlotta brand with ancient symbolism is synonymous with the desire to further elevate a production already recognized and certified as being of the highest quality. In detail, here are the three new productions:
- WHITE TRIDÈNTE “Albana D.O.C.G. Secco 2022” from late harvests, obtained from the blending of the three vintages 2022 (mostly), 2021 and 2020;
- TRIDÈNTE “Sangiovese D.O.C. Superiore Riserva 2021” obtained from the blend of the three 2021 vintages (in prevalence), 2020 and 2019.
- TRIDÈNTE CLASSIC METHOD “obtained from the Albana vine” 36 months zero dosage;
And like any important self-respecting innovation, the Merlotta winery led by the Minzolini family has decided to celebrate with a great event scheduled for next June 15th from 4 pm onwards at the headquarters at number 1 of via Merlotta the Tridènte line exit.
A rich program of initiatives with entry by invitation, including guided tastings of new wines, cultural salons with experts to deepen the historical-artistic and mythological studies and research developed in recent months, wonderful tours among the vineyards and inside the cellar, high-altitude aperitifs in a hot air balloon, concerts at sunset, Romagna food trucks and DJ sets under the stars, to gaze into the pages of Merlotta’s fascinating novel yet another author’s chapter.
The intervention of authorities, illustrious guests and representatives of the specialized press is expected.
